Symptom "Fuel Fail" Code

Whenever the vehicle "Check Engine" light is activated due to an engine management failure, a "Fuel Fail" code is stored by the vehicle ECU.

To retrieve the fuel fail code through the vehicle VCM, use the following procedure:

1. Switch the ignition OFF.
2. Wait five seconds and switch the ignition ON, without starting the engine.
3. Press the VCM button; the fuel fail code will display on the instrument panel LCD screen.
   NOTE: All "Fuel Fail" codes except 29 can be erased through JDS diagnostics. Code 29 can only be erased by disconnecting the vehicle battery.
