Air Temperature Sensor (ATS) (XJS)

The ATS has little effect on the injector pulse width, and should be regarded as a trimming rather than a control device. The ATS ensures fuel supplied is directly proportional to the weight of air drawn in by the engine. As the weight (density) of the air increases with falling temperatures, the amount of fuel supplied is also increased to maintain optimum fuel/air ratio.
