Diagnostic Test Procedure
- Disconnect the cruise control switchpack (part of steering wheel) connector from the steering wheel clockspring connector SW2. Measure resistance between cruise control switchpack connector terminal No. 6 and ground. Measure resistance between cruise control switchpack connector terminal No. 4 and ground. Is either resistance reading less than 10,000 ohms? If yes, repair short to ground in switch circuit. If no, go to next step.
- Measure resistance between steering wheel clockspring connector SW2 terminal No. 6 and ground. Measure resistance between steering wheel clockspring connector SW2 terminal No. 4 and ground. Is either resistance reading less than 10,000 ohms? If yes, repair short to ground. If no, go to next step.
- Measure resistance between cruise control switchpack connector terminals No. 6 and 4. Operate the cruise control DECEL/SET switch. Does resistance reading switch between open and 680 ohms? If yes, recheck DTCs. If no short is found, possible intermittent fault. See INTERMITTENTS in TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article. If no, install a new cruise control switchpack.
