Generator Output Test: Notes

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 10 other vehicles, including the 2000 Jaguar XKR, 2000 Jaguar XK8, 2000 Jaguar XJR, 2000 Jaguar XJ8, and 1999 Jaguar XK8. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: If the cooling fans operate during generator test, the large current demand will overload generator and cause engine to stall. If battery charge is low the voltage will momentarily increase when the battery is disconnected. The maximum that the voltage can increase to is 25 volts for a maximum of 200 mS.
NOTE: If a known-good battery is used for generator testing, voltage measured between terminals must be approximately 12.8 volts. Battery cannot have been on a charger within 12 hours of testing.
