Engine - Installation: Installation

- Apply a thin layer of high-temperature grease to the centering spigot bore on the torque converter.
- Install the engine using a suitable hydraulic lift.
- Install two opposing engine to automatic gearbox retaining bolts.
- Install the retaining bolts.
- Tighten to 48 Nm.
- Install the retaining bolts.
- Tighten to 48 Nm.
- Lower the engine on to the engine mounts.
- Remove the automatic gearbox support.
- Connect the electrical connector.
- Attach the electrical connector.
- Tighten the retaining nut.
- Connect the pipe.
- Install new air conditioning line O-ring seals.
- Lubricate the new 0-ring with A/C refrigerant oil.
- Clean off any oil residue that may contain A/C system fluorescent dye.
- Remove the front engine lifting bracket.
- Install the retaining bolt.
- Remove the rear engine lifting bracket.
- Connect the electrical connector.
- Tighten the retaining bolt.
- Connect the pipe.
- Connect the coolant hose.
- Connect the coolant hoses.
- Connect the fuel line. Refer to Fuel System - General Information .
- Install new air conditioning line O-ring seals.
- Lubricate the new O-ring with A/C refrigerant oil.
- Connect the air conditioning line.
- Tighten to 12 Nm.
- Clean off any oil residue that may contain A/C system fluorescent dye.
- Connect the power steering pump line.
- Tighten to 25 Nm.
- Connect the power steering reservoir hose.
- Raise the vehicle.
- Install the engine mount retaining bolt.
- Tighten to 70 Nm.
- Attach the generator cable.
- Tighten to 12 Nm.
- Reposition the generator cable cover.
- Attach the starter motor cable.
- Tighten to 10 Nm.
- Attach the starter motor cable.
- Tighten to 7 Nm.
- Reposition the starter motor cable cover.
- Install the retaining bolts.
- Install the mount bracket.
- Tighten to 48 Nm.
- Install the retaining bolts.
- Install the mount bracket.
- Tighten to 48 Nm.
- Install the retaining bolts.
- Tighten to 48 Nm.
- Install the retaining bolts.
- Tighten to 55 Nm.
- Rotate the torque converter to gain access to the remaining bolts.
- Install the rubber access cover.
- Install the retaining bolt.
- Attach the transmission fluid cooler tubes to the automatic transmission.
- Install the retaining plate.
- Install the retaining bolt.
- Tighten to 23 Nm.
- Install the transmission heat shield.
- Detach the transmission fluid cooler tubes.
- Install the catalytic converters. Refer to Exhaust System .
- Install the radiator. Refer to Engine Cooling or Supercharger Cooling .
- Carry out the A/C system evacuation and charging procedure. Refer to Climate Control System - General Information .
- Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Steering System - General Information .
- Carry out a transmission fluid level check. Refer to TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL CHECK - GENERAL PROCEDURES .
NOTE:
Use high-temperature grease meeting Jaguar specification.
CAUTION:
Make sure the torque converter hub is correctly installed to the oil pump drive gear throughout the installation procedure. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the vehicle.

Make sure that the torque converter is free to rotate. Failure to follow these instruction may result in damage to the vehicle.

Do not support the automatic gearbox on the fluid pan. Failure to follow these instruction may result in damage to the vehicle.
NOTE:
Uncap the exposed ports.

The electrical connector retaining bolt remains captive in the electrical connector.

If power steering fluid comes into contact with the paintwork, the affected area must be immediately washed down with cold water.
