Transmission Selector Lever: Installation

  1. Attach the ignition switch interlock cable.
    1. Connect the ignition switch interlock cable.
    2. Attach the ignition switch interlock cable.

  2. Attach the transmission selector lever.
    • Tighten to 11 Nm.

    See Figure.

  3. NOTE: Shown with the electric parking brake switch removed for clarity.
  4. Connect the electrical connector. See Figure.
  5. NOTE: Fully extend the selector cable, then retract the selector cable one detent.
  6. Make sure the selector lever cable is in the "R" position.
  7. Make sure the transmission selector lever is in the "R" position.
  8. Attach the selector lever cable. See Figure.
  9. Loosen the selector lever cable lock nuts. See Figure.
  10. Adjust the selector lever cable lock nuts to lock against the retaining bracket without moving the set position of either the shift lever or the selector lever cable.
    • Do not fully tighten the selector lever cable lock nuts.

  11. NOTE: Make sure all transmission selector lever positions select the relevant automatic transmission states.
  12. Move the transmission selector lever to all positions.
  13. NOTE: When tightening the selector lever cable lock nuts, make sure both lock nuts are tightened to the specified torque simultaneously.
  14. Tighten the selector lever cable lock nuts.
    • Tighten to 20 Nm.

  15. Attach the wiring harness bracket. See Figure.
  16. Attach the ash tray. See Figure.
  17. Install the ash tray retaining screws. See Figure.
  18. Install the INSTRUMENT PANEL CONSOLE .
