ISSUE

JLR is investigating Fuel Pump Driver Module (FPDM) replacements relating to P1338-38 FPDM Communication Circuit Signal frequency incorrect logged in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM)

Please Note - Engine - INGENIUM I4 2.0L Petrol Only

CAUSE

Unknown at this time.

ACTION

Please follow the improved DTC help text below to aid diagnosis:

  1. Carry out battery test as per TOPIx 414-01A and record the results
  2. Referring to the wiring diagrams for the vehicle line presented locate the Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) signal wire on the FPDM from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
  3. Setup Picoscope as per attached document and insert test probe into the PWM signal wire on the FPDM following TOPIx guidelines for harness diagnosis and testing
  4. Start engine and idle
  5. Record the Frequency and compare to the attached document Signal frequency should be 127.5hz between 172.5 hz. Voltage should between 0-12 V.
  6. If the frequency at the FPDM matches the specification detailed in step  5, carry out a pin drag test on the PWM signal wire at the FPDM, if no fault is found, replace the FPDM
  7. If the frequency does not match the specification detailed in step  5, setup the Picoscope to the PWM signal wire at the PCM
  8. If this does not match the specification detailed in step  5 carry out pin drag test and repair as required
  9. If this matches the specification detailed in step  5, carry out integrity checks on the wiring harness and repair as required.
  10. Using the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment, clear all stored DTCs and retest.

Thank you in advance for your assistance with this matter.
