Battery Electrical Module (G2260672): Installation

  1. NOTE: This step is only required if installing a new component.

    • Install the High Voltage (HV) Lock-out tool to the Battery Energy Module (BEM).

      Special Tool(s): JLR-415-013 

    • Install the padlock.

      General Equipment: Insulated padlock 

  2. CAUTION: If continuity is found between any of the points highlighted below, contact JLR technical support.

    • Using a multi meter, check that there is no continuity between the illustrated points in the order detailed below.

      General Equipment: Digital multimeter 

    • Make sure there is no continuity between points A and Z.
    • Make sure there is no continuity between points B and Z.
    • Make sure there is no continuity between points C and Z.
    • Make sure there is no continuity between points D and Z.
    • Make sure there is no continuity between points E and Z.
    • Make sure there is no continuity between points D and E.
    • Make sure there is no continuity between points A and B.
    • Make sure there is no continuity between points A and C.
    • Make sure there is no continuity between points B and C.
  3. NOTE: This step can be carried out away from the EV battery therefore does not require PPE.

    Install a new BEM gasket.

    Renew Part: Battery Electrical Module (BEM) Kit  Quantity: .

    Remove the transparent insulated mat.

    Special Tool(s): JLR-415-015

    Make sure the BEM is correctly installed on to the HV conductors.

    • Using the module handling tool, install the BEM.

      Special Tool(s): JLR-415-057 

    • Remove the module handling tool.

      Special Tool(s): JLR-415-057 

  7. CAUTION: New bolts must be installed.

    • Install and tighten the 6 BEM bolts in the indicated sequence.

      Torque 

      Stage 1: 4Nm 

      Stage 2: 12Nm

    • Connect the 3 electrical connectors.

    • Install a new BEM service panel gasket.
  10. CAUTION: New bolts must be installed.

    Install and tighten the 10 BEM service panel retaining bolts in the indicated sequence.

    Torque 

    Stage 1: 3.5Nm 

    Stage 2: 7Nm 

  11. Pressure test the Electric Vehicle (EV) battery.

    Refer to: ELECTRIC VEHICLE PRESSURE TEST - BEM/BECM REPAIR .

  12. WARNING: Jaguar Land Rover Electric Vehicle Authorized Person (EVAP) trained technicians only.

    Power up  the HV system. Only technicians qualified to Electric Vehicle Authorized Person (EVAP) level or higher are allowed to do this procedure  . It is mandated that all technicians involved with the steps in this procedure have read and understood the EV Safety Rules.
