Open Loop Coolant Temperature Switch

The coolant temperature switch operates in conjunction with the 4 in. Hg vacuum switch. Depending on temperature (above or below 100°F/38°C) when engine is at full throttle operation, the M/C solenoid richens the air/fuel mixture as required for increased air flow during wide open throttle operation.
