Cruise Command System Tests

Testing of cruise control switch is performed with an ohmmeter. See Fig 1 . Testing of cruise control system is performed with Cruise Command System Tester (AM PC-1-R). Remove harness connector from control module. Connect tester to harness connector. Perform tests as part of service diagnosis to determine cause and correction of system malfunction. Various tester lights are associated with specific components, circuits, etc. See tables below.

MINIMUM OPERATION REQUIRED TO TURN ON LAMP

Condition Lamp On Perform Test
Cruise switch on, set switch depressed 1 2
Cruise switch on 2 3
Ign. switch on, depress brake to turn off 3, 4 4, 5
Ign. switch on, depress clutch to turn off 3, 4 4, 5
Cruise switch resume/accelerate 5, 6 6
SERVO CHECKS

Condition Lamp On Perform Test
(1) 5, 6 7A, 7B
(1) Cruise switch resume/accelerate engine running. Parking brake fully engaged; automatic transmission in Park; manual transmission in Neutral.
