Ignition Coil Test
- Check ignition coil for carbon tracking, oil leaks, or other damage. Replace coil if necessary. If coil is okay, go to next step.
- Disconnect wiring and coil tower secondary wire from ignition coil terminals. Connect ohmmeter between coil negative (-) and positive (+) terminals. If coil resistance is 1.11-1.25 ohms at 75°F (24°C), go to next step. If coil resistance is incorrect, replace ignition coil.
- Connect an ohmmeter between the coil tower and ignition coil negative (-) terminal. If coil resistance is 7700-9300 ohms at 75°F (24°C), ignition coil is okay. If coil resistance is incorrect, replace ignition coil.
