Test SP-8A, Checking Cruise Control Set Switch Circuit

  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Single Board Engine Controller (SBEC). Inspect connector. If connector is not okay, repair connector as necessary. Perform VERIFICATION TEST SP-VER  . If connector is okay, turn ignition switch to ON position. Place DRB-II in volt-meter mode.
  2. Probe terminal No. 48 (Brown/Red wire) at SBEC connector. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace cruise control switch. Perform VERIFICATION TEST SP-VER  . If voltage is less than 10 volts, access cruise control switch connector. See Figure . While holding SET switch down, backprobe terminal No. 3 (Brown/Red wire) at cruise control switch connector.
  3. If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace cruise control switch. Perform VERIFICATION TEST SP-VER  . If voltage is more than 10 volts, continue to hold SET switch down and probe terminal No. 48 (Brown/Red wire) at SBEC connector.
  4. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Brown/Red wire. Perform VERIFICATION TEST SP-VER  . If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace SBEC. Perform VERIFICATION TEST SP-VER  .
