Test 15B - Repairing Compass/Mini-Trip Module Blank Screen

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1994 Plymouth Voyager, 1994 Plymouth Grand Voyager, 1994 Dodge Grand Caravan, 1994 Dodge Caravan, and 1994 Chrysler Town & Country. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  in this article. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  in this article.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Press step button one time. If compass/mini-trip screen is not blank, test is complete. Perform TEST VER-1B  . If compass/mini-trip screen is still blank, go to next step.
  2. Gain access to compass/mini-trip module connector. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, backprobe fused ignition feed circuit (Tan wire) at compass/mini-trip module connector terminal No. 7. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to step 5). If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect compass/mini-trip module connectors. Check connectors, and clean or repair connectors as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1B. If connectors are okay, go to next step.
  4. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of system ground circuit (Black/Light Green wire) at compass/mini-trip module connector terminal No. 5. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black/Light Green wire. Perform TEST VER-1B. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to TEST 15C  .
  5. Remove circuit breaker No. 25 from fuse panel. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on fuse No. 25 connector, ignition switch output circuit (Black/White wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Black/White wire. Perform TEST VER-1B.
  6. Disconnect compass/mini-trip module connector. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1B. If connector is okay, go to next step.
  7. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of fused ignition feed circuit (Tan wire) at circuit breaker No. 25. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Tan wire. Perform TEST VER-1B. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace circuit breaker. Perform TEST VER-1B.
