Test 49A - Repairing Body Control Module (BCM) No Response
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
article in this section.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Blue Body Control Module (BCM) connector. BCM is located behind center console. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1B . If connector is okay, go to next step.
- Leave Data Link Connector (DLC) connected in following steps. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of CCD BUS positive circuit (Violet/Brown wire) between Blue BCM connector terminal No. 14 and DLC terminal No. 4. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Violet/Brown wire. Perform TEST VER-1B . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Check resistance on CCD BUS negative circuit (White/Black wire) between Blue BCM connector terminal No. 15 and DLC terminal No. 3. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open White/Black wire. Perform TEST VER-1B . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of signal ground circuit (Black/Light Green wire) at Blue BCM connector terminal No. 13. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black/Light Green wire. Perform TEST VER-1B . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on fused ignition feed circuit (Dark Blue/White wire) at Blue BCM connector terminal No. 12. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to TEST 49B . If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Check voltage of fused battery feed circuit (Pink wire) at Blue BCM connector terminal No. 16. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace BCM. Perform TEST VER-1B . If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Remove and inspect IOD fuse. If fuse is blown, go to TEST 49C . If fuse is okay, reinstall IOD fuse and go to next step.
- Check voltage of battery feed circuit (Black/Red wire) at IOD fuse. If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open Pink wire. Perform TEST VER-1B . If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Black/Red wire. Perform TEST VER-1B .
