Test 48A - Faulty Speedometer/Odometer

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  in this article. For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  section at the end of this article. Perform TEST VER-1B  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Using scan tool, read DTCs. If DTC 08 ODOMETER TEST FAILURE exists, replace Body Control Module (BCM). If DTC 08 ODOMETER TEST FAILURE does not exist, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect BCM Natural connector and MIC connector. Check connectors, and clean or repair connectors as necessary. If connectors are okay, go to next step.
  3. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of Orange/Dark Blue wire between MIC connector terminal No. 3 and BCM Natural connector terminal No. 5. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Orange/Dark Blue wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  4. Check resistance of Light Blue wire between MIC connector terminal No. 5 and BCM Natural connector terminal No. 6. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Light Blue wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  5. If problem is with speedometer only, replace speedometer. If problem is with odometer only, replace odometer. If problem is with both speedometer and odometer, replace MIC printed circuit board.
