Test 8G - Short To 5 Volts

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  in this article. For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  section at the end of this article.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between Body Control Module (BCM) Blue connector terminals No. 1, left front door ajar switch sense circuit (Tan wire), and No. 7, CCD BUS positive circuit (Violet/Brown wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Tan wire shorted to Violet/Brown wire. Perform TEST VER-1 .
  2. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between BCM Blue connector terminals No. 1, left front door ajar switch sense circuit (Tan wire), and No. 20, CCD BUS negative circuit (White/Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Tan wire shorted to White/Black wire. Perform TEST VER-1 .
  3. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between BCM Blue connector terminals No. 2, key-in ignition switch sense circuit (Light Blue wire), and No. 7, CCD BUS positive circuit (Violet/Brown wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Light Blue wire shorted to Violet/Brown wire. Perform TEST VER-1 .
  4. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between BCM Blue connector terminals No. 2, key-in ignition switch sense circuit (Light Blue wire), and No. 20, CCD BUS negative circuit (White/Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Light Blue wire shorted to White/Black wire. Perform TEST VER-1 .
  5. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between BCM Blue connector terminals No. 14, seat belt switch sense circuit (Light Green/Red wire), and No. 7, CCD BUS positive circuit (Violet/Brown wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Light Green/Red wire shorted to Violet/Brown wire. Perform TEST VER-1 .
  6. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between BCM Blue connector terminals No. 14, seat belt switch sense circuit (Light Green/Red wire), and No. 20, CCD BUS negative circuit (White/Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Light Green/Red wire shorted to White/Black wire. Perform TEST VER-1 .
  7. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between BCM case and ground using scan tool in ohmmeter mode. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair BCM case ground. Perform TEST VER-1 . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, check resistance between BCM Blue connector terminal No. 19, ground circuit (Black/Light Green wire), and ground.
  8. If resistance is more than 15 ohms, repair open Black/Light Green wire. Perform TEST VER-1 . If resistance is less than 15 ohms, replace BCM. Perform TEST VER-1 .
