Test 30A - Electronic Instrument Cluster (EIC) Problems
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION in this article. For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS section at the end of this article. Perform TEST VER-1B after each repair.
- Using scan tool, select ELECTRONIC INST CLUSTER. If scan tool displays NO RESPONSE FROM EIC or cluster is completely blank, go to TEST 31A . If scan tool does not display NO RESPONSE FROM EIC and cluster is not completely blank, go to next step.
- Read Electronic Instrument Cluster (EIC) DTCs. If scan tool displays any DTCs, go to TEST 32A . If scan tool does not display any DTCs, go to next step.
- Read cluster ID status. If scan tool does not display CLUSTER ID EIC US, go to TEST 33A . If scan tool displays CLUSTER ID EIC US, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, select PCM MONITOR under SYSTEM TESTS. If scan tool displays NO RESPONSE, go to TEST 107A . If scan tool does not display NO RESPONSE, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, actuate EIC ALL SEQUENTIAL SEGMENTS test. If any segment fails to light, replace EIC. If all segments light, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, actuate EIC ALL SEGMENTS ON test. If any segment fails to light, replace EIC. If all segments light, go to next step.
- Electro/mechanical instrument cluster system diagnostics are separated into 5 categories. Verify customer complaint and identify problem area before performing appropriate test. See the DIAGNOSING ELECTRO/MECHANICAL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SYSTEM table below.
