Test NTC-5A - Checking Throttle Position Sensor Calibration

  1. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, read Throttle Position (TP) sensor voltage. Ensure throttle is fully closed and against throttle stop. If voltage is more than 1.5 volts with throttle closed, replace TP sensor and perform TEST VER-2A. If voltage is 1.5 volts or less with throttle closed, go to next step.
  2. Observe scan tool while slowly opening throttle to wide open position. If voltage change is not smooth, replace TP sensor and perform TEST VER-2A. If voltage change is smooth, go to next step.
  3. If maximum voltage is not at least 3.4 volts at Wide Open Throttle (WOT), replace TP sensor and perform TEST VER-2A . If voltage is at least 3.4 volts at WOT, TP sensor is operating normally. Test is complete.
