July 1: So it begins. Don't worry, this is not in the correct legal jurisdiction!

Test SC-2A - Checking Speed Control Operation

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect speed control switch connector(s). Check connector(s) for damaged, pushed out or miswired terminals. Repair as necessary. Perform TEST SC-VER  . If connector(s) are okay, check resistance of speed control switch signal circuit using an external ohmmeter. Switch signal circuit is White wire on switch connector terminal No. 3.
NOTE: Wire color for speed control ground circuit from switch connector to clockspring is not available.
  2. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Yellow/Red or White wire. Perform TEST SC-VER  . If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, check resistance of speed control ground circuit. Ground circuit is on switch connector terminal No. 2. See Figure . If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in ground circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform TEST SC-VER  . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  3. Use DRB to read speed control switch voltage. If DRB displays 0.00V OFF, replace speed control switch. Perform TEST SC-VER  . If DRB does not display 0.00V OFF, ensure ignition is off.
  4. Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connector. Check connector for damaged, pushed out or miswired terminals. Repair as necessary. Perform TEST SC-VER  . If connector is okay, go to next step.
  5. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of speed control switch signal circuit between speed control switch connector terminal No. 3 (White wire) and Gray PCM connector terminal C32 (White/Light Green wire). See Figure -Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace PCM. Perform TEST SC-VER  .
  6. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, disconnect clockspring-to-instrument panel harness connector. Connector is located on steering column below clockspring. Check connector for damaged, pushed out or miswired terminals. Repair as necessary. Perform TEST SC-VER  .
  7. If connector is okay, check resistance of speed control switch signal circuit between clockspring harness connector White/Light Green wire and Gray PCM connector terminal C32 using an external ohmmeter. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace clockspring. Perform TEST SC-VER  . If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in White/Light Green. Perform TEST SC-VER  .
