Speed (Cruise) Control Switch

Disconnect negative battery cable. Wait 2 minutes for air bag system capacitor to discharge. Remove speed control switch assembly from steering wheel and disconnect connector. See SPEED (CRUISE) CONTROL SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance at speed control switch terminals No. 1 and 2. See Fig 1 . Resistance should be 798-814 ohms with no switched depressed. Check resistance at speed control switch terminals No. 2 and 3. If continuity is not as specified in the SPEED CONTROL SWITCH RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS TABLE 1  , replace defective speed control switch.
