Power Lock Motor Test

  1. Perform test procedures for the LOCK RELAY CIRCUIT TEST  and the UNLOCK RELAY CIRCUIT TEST  to ensure battery voltage exists at power lock motors. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open as required. If battery voltage exists, go to step 3).
  2. If only one power lock motor is inoperative, go to next step. If all motors are inoperative, begin disconnecting motors and testing the lock and unlock functions. If disconnecting a motor causes the others to function, go to next step to test inoperative motor.
  3. Apply 12 volts to motor terminals to verify operation in one direction. Reverse polarity to check operation in other direction. If motor functions properly, check circuits to power lock/unlock relay on Cherokee. If motor fails to operate, replace faulty motor.
