Anti-Theft System Test 6B - Repairing Park Light Relay Circuit
NOTE:
Perform ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM TEST 1A
before proceeding. For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
and WIRING DIAGRAM. See ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM article. Perform TEST VER-2A
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector. Ensure all connectors are clean and tight.
- Remove park light relay. Park light relay is located in junction block, behind right kick panel. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between horn relay terminals No. 85 and 86. See Figure under ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM TEST 6A. If resistance is less than 65 ohms or more than 90 ohms, replace relay. If resistance is more than 65 ohms or less than 90 ohms, go to next step.
- Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, probe park light relay connector terminal No. 30. If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace junction block. If voltage is 10 volts or more, go to next step.
- Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, probe park light relay connector terminal No. 86. If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace junction block. If voltage is 10 volts or more, go to next step.
- Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, probe park light relay connector terminal No. 85. Using scan tool, actuate park light relay. If resistance drops to less than 30 ohms when park light relay is actuated, replace park light relay. If resistance does not drop to less than 30 ohms when park light relay is actuated, go to next step.
- Turn park lights on from headlight switch. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, probe park light relay connector terminal No. 87 (Dark Blue/Red wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Dark Blue/Red wire. If voltage is 10 volts or more, go to next step.
- Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, backprobe Body Control Module (BCM) White 24-pin connector terminal No. 21 (Tan wire). DO NOT disconnect BCM connector. Using scan tool, actuate park light relay. If resistance drops to less than 30 ohms when relay is actuated, repair open in Tan wire. If resistance does not drop to less than 30 ohms when relay is actuated, replace BCM.
