Power Door Lock Test 10A - Repairing Power Door Locks
NOTE:
Perform POWER DOOR LOCK TEST 1A
before proceeding. For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
and WIRING DIAGRAM and DOOR LOCKS - POWER & KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM
article. Perform TEST VER-1A
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector. Ensure all connectors are clean and tight.
- Using scan tool, read power door lock status. If scan tool does not display AUTO DOOR LOCKS ENABLED, enable power door locks and retest system. If scan tool displays AUTO DOOR LOCKS ENABLED, go to next step.
- Ensure liftgate and all doors are closed. Using scan tool, select INPUT/OUTPUTS. Check status of all door ajar switches. If scan tool displays CLOSED for any door ajar switch, go to DOOR AJAR TEST 1A . If scan tool does not display CLOSED for any door ajar switch, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, select ENGINE SENSORS. Read Throttle Position (TP) sensor voltage. If TP sensor voltage does not increase as throttle is opened, TP sensor is inoperative. Repair as required. See the TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section. If TP sensor voltage increases as throttle is opened, go to next step.
- Raise and support vehicle. Start engine. Place transmission in Drive. Using scan tool, observe vehicle speed as wheels are rotating. If MPH reading increases as throttle is opened, system is okay at this time. If MPH reading does not increase as throttle is opened, vehicle speed sensor is inoperative. Repair as required.
