Windshield Wiper Test 5B - Intermittent Wipers Inoperative
NOTE:
Perform POWER WINDOW TEST 1A
before proceeding. For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
and WIRING DIAGRAM and WIPER/WASHER SYSTEM
article. Perform TEST VER-1A
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector. Ensure all connectors are clean and tight.
- Using scan tool, access BODY SENSORS. Monitor INTERMITTENT WIPER voltage. Turn stalk switch from low to high intermittent position. If voltage changes about 2-12 volts, replace Body Control Module (BCM). If voltage does not change about 2-12 volts, go to next step.
- Disconnect 24-pin multifunction switch connector. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 1 (Light Green/White wire) on multifunction switch connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Light Green/White wire for short to ground. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step.
- Disconnect BCM Black 24-pin connector. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance between terminal No. 18 (Light Green/White wire) on BCM Black 24-pin connector and terminal No. 1 on multifunction switch 24-pin connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace multifunction switch. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Light Green/White wire.
