Power Door Lock Test 1A - Identifying Power Door Lock System Problems
NOTE:
Perform SYMPTOM ID TEST 1A
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
and WIRING DIAGRAM and DOOR LOCKS - POWER & KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM
article. Perform TEST VER-1A
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector. Ensure all connectors are clean and tight.
- Using scan tool, select BODY SYSTEM, then DOOR MODULES. If scan tool displays BUS OPERATIONAL, go to next step. If scan tool displays NO RESPONSE, or any other message, go to TEST 1A
under VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS.NOTE: Power door lock diagnostics are separated into 10 tests. Verify failure or customer's complaint and ensure vehicle is experiencing problem at this time.
- Lower both front door windows. Remove key from ignition switch. Lock and unlock doors from both door switches and observe door locks. Perform indicated test(s) if any problems(s) listed in POWER DOOR LOCK DIAGNOSTIC TEST DIRECTORY table exists. If power door locks operate properly, go to next step.POWER DOOR LOCK DIAGNOSTIC TEST DIRECTORY
Problem Perform One Door Fails To Lock & Unlock POWER DOOR LOCK TEST 2A Left Front Door Fails To Lock POWER DOOR LOCK TEST 3A Fails To Unlock POWER DOOR LOCK TEST 4A All Doors (Except Left Front Door) Fail To Lock & Unlock POWER DOOR LOCK TEST 5A Fail To Lock POWER DOOR LOCK TEST 6A Fail To Unlock POWER DOOR LOCK TEST 7A Locks Inoperative From One Module (1) (1) Replace defective module. - Insert key in ignition switch and open left front door. Lock doors. If doors do not lock, go to next step. If doors lock, go to POWER DOOR LOCK TEST 8A .
- Operate doors with remote keyless entry transmitter. If transmitter does not operate, go to POWER DOOR LOCK TEST 9A. If transmitter operates, drive vehicle at speeds above 15 MPH. If doors do not lock, go to POWER DOOR LOCK TEST 10A . If doors lock, system is operating properly at this time.
