Exterior Lighting Test 7A - FOGLIGHTS Inoperative
NOTE:
Perform EXTERIOR LIGHTING TEST 1A
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS
. After each repair, perform TEST VER-1A
.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector. Ensure all connectors are clean and tight.
- Using scan tool, read foglight switch status. Turn foglight switch on and off. If scan tool displays ON and OFF, go to EXTERIOR LIGHTING TEST 7B . If scan tool does not display ON and OFF, go to next step.
- Ensure ignition and courtesy lights are off. Disconnect headlight switch connector. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance at terminal No. 5 (Black wire) on headlight switch connector. If resistance is more than 10 ohms, repair open in Black wire. If resistance is 10 ohms or less, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, read foglight switch status. Connect jumper wire between terminal No. 6 (Brown/White wire) on headlight switch connector and ground. If scan tool displays ON to OFF when jumper wire is grounded, replace headlight switch. If scan tool does not display ON to OFF when jumper wire is grounded, go to next step.
- Connect jumper wire between terminal No. 6 (Brown/White wire) on headlight switch connector and ground. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Black 24-pin connector. With scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance at terminal No. 15 (Brown/White wire) on BCM Black 24-pin connector. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Brown/White wire. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace BCM.
