Exterior Lighting Test 7B - FOGLIGHTS Inoperative

NOTE: Perform EXTERIOR LIGHTING TEST 7A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS  . After each repair, perform TEST VER-1A  .
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector. Ensure all connectors are clean and tight.
  1. Remove foglight relay. Foglight relay is located in junction block, behind right kick panel. See Figure under EXTERIOR LIGHTING TEST 2A. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between terminals No. 85 (Dark Green/Yellow wire) and No. 86 (Red wire) on foglight relay connector. If resistance is less than 65 or 90 ohms or more, replace foglight relay. If resistance is less than 90 ohms, go to next step.
  2. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, measure voltage at terminal No. 30 (Red wire) on foglight relay connector. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Dark Green/Yellow wire between foglight relay terminal No. 85 and terminal No. 22 on BCM Black 24-pin connector. If voltage is 10 volts or more, go to next step.
  3. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, measure voltage at terminal No. 86 (Red wire) on foglight relay connector. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Red wire. If voltage is 10 volts or more, go to next step.
  4. Ensure ignition is off. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance at terminal No. 85 (Dark Green/Yellow wire) on foglight relay connector. Using scan tool, actuate foglight relay. If resistance is less than 10 ohms when foglight relay is actuated, replace foglight relay. If resistance is 10 ohms or more when foglight relay is actuated, go to next step.
  5. Connect jumper wire between terminals No. 30 (Red wire) and No. 87 (Light Blue wire) on foglight connector. If foglights are off, repair open in Light Blue wire. If foglights are on, go to next step.
  6. Disconnect BCM White 24-pin connector. Connect jumper wire between terminal No. 22 (Dark Green/Yellow wire) on BCM White 24-pin connector and ground. With scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance at terminal No. 85 (Dark Green/Yellow wire) on foglight relay connector. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Dark Green/Yellow wire. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace BCM.
