Power Mirror Test 6A - Heated Mirror Inoperative

NOTE: Perform POWER MIRROR TEST 1A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Refer to MIRRORS - POWER article. After each repair, perform TEST VER-1A  .
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector. Ensure all connectors are clean and tight.
  1. Ensure rear window defogger is working properly before repairing mirror heater. If problem is with passenger's mirror only, go to step 5). If problem is with driver's mirror, go to next step.
  2. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, backprobe terminal "F" (Black wire) on driver's door module power mirror connector. See Figure under POWER DOOR LOCK TEST 2B. If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace driver's door module. If voltage is 10 volts or more, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect power mirror connector from driver's door module. Turn ignition on, engine off. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance at terminal "B" on driver's door module power mirror connector. Turn rear defogger on. If resistance is less than 30 ohms, replace power mirror. If resistance is 30 ohms or more, go to next step.
  4. Connect a test light between terminals "B" and "F" on driver's door module power mirror. Using scan tool, actuate left mirror heater. If test light does not flash when mirror heater is actuated, replace driver's door module. If test light flashes when mirror heater is actuated, repair rear window defogger. See DEFOGGER - REAR WINDOW & HEATED MIRRORS article.
  5. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, backprobe terminal "F" on passenger's door module power mirror. If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace passenger's door module. If voltage is 10 volts or more, go to next step.
  6. Disconnect power mirror connector from passenger's door module. Turn ignition on, engine off. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance at terminal "B" on passenger's door module power mirror connector. Turn rear window defogger on. If resistance is less than 30 ohms, replace power mirror. If resistance is 30 ohms or more, replace passenger's door module.
