Windshield Wiper Test 5A - Intermittent Wipers Inoperative

NOTE: Perform POWER WINDOW TEST 1A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Refer to WIPER/WASHER SYSTEM article. After each repair, perform TEST VER-1A  .
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector. Ensure all connectors are clean and tight.
  1. If wipers do not operate continuously in intermittent mode, go to WINDSHIELD WIPER TEST 5B  . Using scan tool, access WIPER MONITOR screen. Monitor I/WIPE enable voltage level. Turn stalk switch from low to high intermittent position. If voltage is about 12 volts, replace Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located under left side of dash. See Figure in CHIME TEST 3A. If voltage is not about 12 volts, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect 24-pin multifunction switch connector. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between terminal No. 1 (White wire) on BCM Black 24-pin connector and terminal No. 2 (White wire) on multifunction switch 24-pin connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace multifunction switch. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in White wire.
