Panel Light Driver Failure
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect driver's heated seat switch. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, erase Body Control Module (BCM) DTCs. Wait 5 seconds, then read BCM DTCs. If PANEL LIGHT DRIVER FAILURE DTC is present, go to next step. If PANEL LIGHT DRIVER FAILURE DTC is not present, repair driver's heated seat switch for short to ground. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect passenger's heated seat switch. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, erase BCM DTCs. Wait 5 seconds, then read BCM DTCs. If PANEL LIGHT DRIVER FAILURE DTC is present, go to next step. If PANEL LIGHT DRIVER FAILURE DTC is not present, repair passenger's heated seat switch for short to ground. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect A/C-heater control panel connectors. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, erase BCM DTCs. Wait 5 seconds, then read BCM DTCs. If PANEL LIGHT DRIVER FAILURE DTC is present, go to next step. If PANEL LIGHT DRIVER FAILURE DTC is not present, replace A/C-heater control panel. See appropriate MANUAL A/C-HEATER or AUTOMATIC A/C-HEATER SYSTEMS article in AIR CONDITIONING & HEATING. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect PRNDL illumination unit. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, erase BCM DTCs. Wait 5 seconds, then read BCM DTCs. If PANEL LIGHT DRIVER FAILURE DTC is present, go to next step. If PANEL LIGHT DRIVER FAILURE DTC is not present, repair PRNDL illumination circuit for short to ground. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect ashtray light. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, erase BCM DTCs. Wait 5 seconds, then read BCM DTCs. If PANEL LIGHT DRIVER FAILURE DTC is present, go to next step. If PANEL LIGHT DRIVER FAILURE DTC is not present, repair ashtray bulb or socket for short to ground. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect radio connectors. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, erase BCM DTCs. Wait 5 seconds, then read BCM DTCs. If PANEL LIGHT DRIVER FAILURE DTC is present, go to next step. If PANEL LIGHT DRIVER FAILURE DTC is not present, replace radio. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect A/C-heater control panel connectors. Disconnect BCM connector C1. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and BCM connector C1 terminal No. 10 (Orange wire). See Figure. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Orange wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Disconnect PRNDL illumination unit connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and BCM connector C1 terminal No. 9 (Orange wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Orange wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Disconnect radio connectors. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and BCM connector C1 terminal No. 13 (Orange wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Orange wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Disconnect ashtray light. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and BCM connector C1 terminal No. 8 (Orange wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Orange wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Disconnect driver's and passenger's heated seat switch connectors. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and BCM connector C1 terminal No. 12 (Orange wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace BCM. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Orange wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect A/C-heater control panel connectors. Reconnect BCM connector C1. On vehicles with automatic A/C, connect test light between ground and Automatic Zone Control (AZC) module connector C2 terminal No. 6 (Orange wire). See Figure. On vehicles with manual A/C, connect test light between ground and A/C-heater control panel connector C1 terminal No. 7 (Orange wire). See Figure. On all models, turn instrument panel lights on and observe test light. If test light does not come on, go to next step. If test light comes on, replace defective A/C-heater control panel (manual A/C) or AZC module (automatic A/C). See appropriate MANUAL A/C-HEATER or AUTOMATIC A/C-HEATER SYSTEMS article in AIR CONDITIONING & HEATING. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
