Recline Sensor Out Of Range Low

  1. Ensure Memory Seat Module (MSM) is connected before proceeding. Disconnect driver's power seat recliner sensor 3-pin connector. Turn ignition on. Using DVOM, measure voltage between driver's power seat recliner sensor connector terminal "A" (Brown/White wire) and ground. If voltage is greater than 4.5 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 4.5 volts, go to step  6.
  2. Turn ignition off. Connect a fused jumper between driver's power seat recliner sensor connector terminals "A" (Brown/White wire) and "B" (Light Blue wire). Using scan tool, select BODY, MEMORY SEAT then SENSORS. Turn ignition on. Read RECLINER POSITION SENSOR voltage. If voltage is less than 4.5 volts, go to next step. If voltage is greater than 4.5 volts, replace seat track assembly. See appropriate POWER SEATS article. Perform MEMORY/HEATED SEATS VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  3. Disconnect MSM connector C1. MSM is located under driver's seat. Using DVOM, measure resistance between MSM connector C1 terminal No. 16 (Light Blue wire) and ground. See Figure. If resistance is greater than 1000 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 1000 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Blue wire. Perform MEMORY/HEATED SEATS VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  4. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Light Blue wire between MSM connector C1 terminal No. 16 and driver's power seat recliner sensor connector terminal "B". If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Light Blue wire. Perform MEMORY/HEATED SEATS VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  5. Replace Memory Seat Module (MSM). See MEMORY HEATED SEAT MODULE, HEATED SEAT MODULE, MEMORY SEAT MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform MEMORY/HEATED SEATS VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  6. Turn ignition off. Disconnect MSM connector C1. See Figure. MSM is located under driver's seat. Using DVOM, measure resistance between driver's power seat recliner sensor connector terminal "A" (Brown/White wire) and ground. If resistance is greater than 1000 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 1000 ohms, repair short to ground in Brown/White wire between MSM and driver's power seat recliner sensor. Perform MEMORY/HEATED SEATS VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  7. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Brown/White wire between driver's power seat recliner sensor connector terminal "A" and MSM connector C1 terminal No. 18. See Figure. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair open in Brown/White wire between MSM and driver's power seat recliner sensor. Perform MEMORY/HEATED SEATS VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  8. Replace MSM. See MEMORY HEATED SEAT MODULE, HEATED SEAT MODULE, MEMORY SEAT MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform MEMORY/HEATED SEATS VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
