Driver's Door Fails To Lock/Unlock

  1. Remove driver's front door inner trim panel. Disconnect Driver's Door Module (DDM) connector C1. Ensure driver's window is down and door is locked. Connect a jumper wire between DDM connector C1 terminals No. 4 (Black wire) and No. 5 (Orange/Black wire). See Figure. Connect a jumper wire to DDM connector C1 terminal No. 7 (Pink/Black wire) and momentarily touch DDM connector C1 terminal No. 1 (Tan/Light Blue wire). If driver's door unlocks, go to next step. If driver's door does not unlock, go to step  3.
  2. Replace DDM. See POWER WINDOWS - GRAND CHEROKEE article. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  3. Disconnect door lock motor/ajar switch connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Pink/Black wire between DDM connector C1 terminal No. 7 and door lock motor/ajar switch connector terminal No. 3. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open Pink/Black wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  4. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Orange/Black wire between DDM connector C1 terminal No. 5 and door lock motor/ajar switch connector terminal No. 4. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in Orange/Black wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  5. Replace defective door lock motor/ajar switch. See appropriate POWER DOOR LOCKS & REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEMS article. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
