Driver's Door Key Fails To Disarm VTSS
- Using scan tool, select THEFT ALARM, VTSS, then SENSORS. Read DRV KEY CYL SW volts. Rotate key in door key cylinder from normal position to unlock position. If voltage changes from 5.0 to 1.6 volts, go to next step. If voltage does not change from 5.0 to 1.6 volts, go to step 3.
- Remove and install Power Distribution Center (PDC) fuse No. 12 to reset door module. See Figure and Figure . Retry VTSS. If system functions correctly, test is complete. Perform VEHICLE THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS. If system does not operate correctly, replace Driver's Door Module (DDM). See appropriate POWER WINDOWS article. Perform VEHICLE THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Remove driver's door trim panel. Disconnect driver's door cylinder lock switch connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and door cylinder lock switch connector terminal No. 2 (Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire between ground and door cylinder lock switch. Perform VEHICLE THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Disconnect Driver's Door Module (DDM) connector C1. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and DDM connector C1 terminal No. 10 (Light Green/Orange wire). See Figure. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Green/Orange wire. Perform VEHICLE THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Using DVOM, measure resistance of Light Green/Orange wire between DDM connector C1 terminal No. 10 and door cylinder lock switch connector terminal No. 1. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in Light Green/Orange wire. Perform VEHICLE THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Using DVOM, backprobe and measure resistance between driver's door lock cylinder terminals (switch side) while holding key in unlock position. If resistance is 442-492 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 442-492 ohms, replace driver's door lock cylinder switch assembly. Perform VEHICLE THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Replace DDM. See appropriate POWER WINDOWS article. Perform VEHICLE THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
