VTSS Indicator Inoperative
- Disconnect auto headlight sensor/VTSS LED connector. Auto headlight sensor/VTSS LED is located under dash top cover. See Figure. Connect positive lead of DVOM to battery voltage. Connect negative lead to auto headlight sensor/VTSS LED connector terminal No. 3 (Black/Orange wire). See Fig 1. Using scan tool, actuate VTSS indicator light. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, replace defective auto headlight sensor/VTSS LED assembly. Perform VEHICLE THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and auto headlight sensor/VTSS LED connector terminal No. 4 (Pink wire). If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Pink wire. Perform VEHICLE THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector C1. See Figure. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Black/Orange wire between BCM connector C1 terminal No. 20 and auto headlight sensor/VTSS LED connector terminal No. 3. See Figure. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in Black/Orange wire. Perform VEHICLE THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform VEHICLE THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
