Seat Heat Interface Module Test

  1. Perform appropriate procedure for symptom listed:

    1. Heated Seat Fails To Heat & One Or Both Heated Seat Switch LED Indicators Flash

Perform appropriate test. See HEATED SEAT SELF-DIAGNOSTIC DEFINITION  table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
    2. Heated Seat Operates Correctly, One Or Both Heated Seat Switch LED Indicators Fails

Repair heated seat switch concern. Perform HEATED SEAT SWITCH TEST  under COMPONENT TESTS. If heated seat switch tests okay, go to step  3.
    3. Both Heated Seats Fail To Heat & Heated Seat Switch LED Indicators Fail To Illuminate

Perform HEATED SEAT RELAY TEST  under COMPONENT TESTS. If heated seat relay tests okay, go to next step.
    4. Only One Heated Seat Fails To Heat & Heated Seat Switch LED Indicator Fails To Illuminate

Perform HEATED SEAT SWITCH TEST  under COMPONENT TESTS. If heated seat switch tests okay, go to next step.
    5. Heated Seat Switch LED Remains Illuminated After Heated Seat Switch Has Been Turned Off

      Go to step  4.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect Seat Heat Interface Module (SHIM) harness connector. Check continuity between ground and terminal No. 13 (Black wire) at SHIM harness connector. See Figure. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Black wire between SHIM and ground point. Ground point is located under passenger's front seat, for both seats.
  3. Remove heated seat switches from center console. See HEATED SEAT SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect suspect heated seat switch harness connector. On passenger's heated seat, check continuity of Tan/Red wire between terminal No. 9 at SHIM harness connector and terminal No. 6 at passenger's heated seat switch harness connector. On driver's heated seat, check continuity of Tan/Dark Green wire between terminal No. 1 at SHIM harness connector and terminal No. 6 at driver's heated seat switch harness connector. See Figure and Figure . If continuity exists at all terminals, replace SHIM. See SEAT HEAT INTERFACE MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If continuity does not exist at any terminal, repair open in Tan/Red wire and/or Tan/Dark Green wire between SHIM and appropriate heated seat switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  4. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect SHIM harness connector. Remove heated seat switches from center console. See HEATED SEAT SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect suspect heated seat switch harness connector. On passenger's side, check continuity between ground and terminal No. 1 (Violet/Light Green wire) at heated seat switch harness connector. Check continuity between ground and terminal No. 5 (Violet/Black wire) at passenger's heated seat switch harness connector. See Figure.

On driver's side, check continuity between ground and terminal No. 1 (Violet wire) at heated seat switch harness connector. Check continuity between ground and terminal No. 5 (Violet/White wire) at driver's heated seat switch harness connector. If continuity does not exist at all terminals, replace SHIM. See SEAT HEAT INTERFACE MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If continuity exists at any terminal, repair short to ground in appropriate wire(s). See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
