Front Riser Out Of Range Low

  1. Ensure Memory Seat Module (MSM) is connected before proceeding. Disconnect driver's power seat front riser sensor Black 3-pin connector. Turn ignition on. Using DVOM, measure voltage between driver's power seat front riser sensor connector terminal "C" (Brown/White wire) and ground. See Figure . If voltage is greater than 4.5 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 4.5 volts, go to step  6 .
  2. Turn ignition off. Connect a fused jumper wire between driver's power seat front riser sensor connector terminals "B" (Brown wire) and "C" (Brown/White wire). Using scan tool, select BODY, MEMORY SEAT then SENSORS. Turn ignition on. Read FRONT RISER POSITION SENSOR voltage. If voltage is less than 4.5 volts, go to next step. If voltage is greater than 4.5 volts, replace seat track assembly. See appropriate POWER SEATS article. Perform MEMORY/HEATED SEATS VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  3. Disconnect MSM C1 connector. MSM is located under driver's seat. Using DVOM, measure resistance between MSM C1 connector terminal No. 17 (Brown wire) and ground. See Figure . If resistance is greater than 1000 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 1000 ohms, repair short to ground in Brown wire. Perform MEMORY/HEATED SEATS VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  4. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Brown wire between MSM C1 connector terminal No. 17 and driver's power seat front riser sensor connector terminal "B". If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Brown wire. Perform MEMORY/HEATED SEATS VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  5. Replace MSM. See MEMORY HEATED SEAT MODULE, HEATED SEAT MODULE OR MEMORY SEAT MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform MEMORY/HEATED SEATS VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  6. Turn ignition off. Disconnect MSM C1 connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance between driver's power seat front riser sensor connector terminal "C" (Brown/White wire) and ground. See Figure . If resistance is greater than 1000 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 1000 ohms, repair short to ground in Brown/White wire between MSM and driver's power seat front riser sensor. Perform MEMORY/HEATED SEATS VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  7. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Brown/White wire between driver's power seat front riser sensor connector terminal "C" and MSM C1 connector terminal No. 18. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Brown/White wire between MSM and driver's power seat front riser sensor. Perform MEMORY/HEATED SEATS VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  8. Replace MSM. See MEMORY HEATED SEAT MODULE, HEATED SEAT MODULE OR MEMORY SEAT MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform MEMORY/HEATED SEATS VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
