Doors Lock With Key In Ignition & Front Door Open
- Ensure key is in ignition switch. Using scan tool, read KEY-IN IGNITION status. If scan tool does not display CLOSED, go to next step. If scan tool displays CLOSED, go to step 6 .
- Disconnect ignition switch 2-pin connector. See Figure . Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and ignition switch 2-pin connector terminal No. 2 (Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in Black wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) C1 connector. See Figure . Using DVOM, measure resistance of Light Blue wire between ignition switch 2-pin connector terminal No. 1 and BCM C1 connector terminal No. 6. See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in Light Blue wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Reconnect BCM C1 connector. Connect a jumper wire between ignition switch 2-pin connector terminals. Using scan tool, read KEY-IN IGNITION status. If scan tool does not display CLOSED, go to next step. If scan tool displays CLOSED, replace ignition switch. See appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Open driver's door. Using scan tool, select BODY, DOOR MODULES, then INPUT/OUTPUT. Read DRV DOOR AJAR SW. If scan tool displays CLOSED, go to next step. If scan tool does not display CLOSED, go to DRIVER'S DOOR AJAR CIRCUIT OPEN .
- Replace Body Control Module (BCM). See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
