Dim Sw Short To Ground

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect left multifunction switch connector. Using scan tool, select SENSORS. Read panel lamp voltage. If panel lamp voltage is less than 4 volts, go to next step. If panel lamp voltage is greater than 4 volts, replace left multifunction switch. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  2. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) C1 connector. See Figure . Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and left multifunction switch connector terminal No. 10 (Red wire). See Figure . If resistance is 1000 ohms or greater, go to next step. If resistance is less than 1000 ohms, repair short to ground in Red wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  3. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and left multifunction switch connector terminal No. 4 (White/Dark Green wire). If resistance is 1000 ohms or greater, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is less than 1000 ohms, repair short to ground in White/Dark Green wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
