Panel Light Driver Failure
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect driver's heated seat switch. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, erase Body Control Module (BCM) DTCs. Wait 5 seconds, then read BCM DTCs. If PANEL LIGHT DRIVER FAILURE DTC is present, go to next step. If PANEL LIGHT DRIVER FAILURE DTC is not present, replace driver's heated seat switch. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect passenger's heated seat switch. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, erase BCM DTCs. Wait 5 seconds, then read BCM DTCs. If PANEL LIGHT DRIVER FAILURE DTC is present, go to next step. If PANEL LIGHT DRIVER FAILURE DTC is not present, replace passenger's heated seat switch. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect A/C-heater control panel connectors (C1 for manual A/C or C2 for automatic A/C). Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, erase BCM DTCs. Wait 5 seconds, then read BCM DTCs. If PANEL LIGHT DRIVER FAILURE DTC is present, go to next step. If PANEL LIGHT DRIVER FAILURE DTC is not present, replace A/C-heater control panel. See AUTOMATIC ZONE CONTROL (AZC) MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in AUTOMATIC A/C-HEATER SYSTEMS article in AIR CONDITIONING & HEATING, or CONTROL PANEL under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in MANUAL A/C-HEATER SYSTEMS article in AIR CONDITIONING & HEATING. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect PRNDL illumination unit. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, erase BCM DTCs. Wait 5 seconds, then read BCM DTCs. If PANEL LIGHT DRIVER FAILURE DTC is present, go to next step. If PANEL LIGHT DRIVER FAILURE DTC is not present, repair or replace PRNDL illumination circuit for short to ground. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect ashtray light. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, erase BCM DTCs. Wait 5 seconds, then read BCM DTCs. If PANEL LIGHT DRIVER FAILURE DTC is present, go to next step. If PANEL LIGHT DRIVER FAILURE DTC is not present, repair ashtray bulb or socket for short to ground. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect radio connectors. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, erase BCM DTCs. Wait 5 seconds, then read BCM DTCs. If PANEL LIGHT DRIVER FAILURE DTC is present, go to next step. If PANEL LIGHT DRIVER FAILURE DTC is not present, replace radio. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect BCM C1 connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and BCM C1 connector terminal No. 10 (Orange wire). See Figure . If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Orange wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and BCM C1 connector terminal No. 9 (Orange wire).
13 (Orange wire).
8 (Orange wire).
12 (Orange wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace BCM. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Orange wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
