Ambient Temperature Sensor Ckt Open

  1. Disconnect ambient temperature sensor. Sensor is located on right side of front grille, next to headlight. Turn ignition on and close all doors. Monitor Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) display. If EVIC does not display SHORT CKT, go to next step. If EVIC displays SHORT CKT, replace ambient temperature sensor.
  2. Remove jumper wire. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) C2 connector. See Figure . Using DVOM, measure resistance of Dark Green/Red wire between BCM C2 connector terminal No. 9 and ambient temperature sensor connector terminal No. 2. See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in Dark Green/Red wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  3. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Dark Blue/Orange wire between BCM C2 connector terminal No. 20 and ambient temperature sensor connector terminal No. 1. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open in Dark Blue/Orange wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  4. Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
