RKE Transmitter Inoperative

  1. Using DVOM, measure voltage of transmitter batteries. If voltage is greater than 3 volts for each battery, go to next step. If voltage is less than 3 volts on either battery, replace as necessary. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  2. Using scan tool, select BODY, DOOR MODULES, MISCELLANEOUS, then PROGRAM RKE. Program RKE transmitter. Follow scan tool instructions. Exit PROGRAM RKE. Using RKE transmitter, operate door locks. If door locks do not operate correctly, go to next step. If door locks operate correctly, test is complete. Program other RKE transmitters as necessary. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  3. Acquire a known-good RKE transmitter. Using scan tool, select BODY, DOOR MODULES, MISCELLANEOUS, then PROGRAM RKE. Program RKE transmitter. Follow scan tool instructions. Exit PROGRAM RKE. Using RKE transmitter, operate door locks. If door locks do not operate correctly, go to next step. If door locks operate correctly, replace RKE transmitter. Program all additional RKE transmitters. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  4. Replace Passenger's Door Module (PDM). See POWER WINDOWS - GRAND CHEROKEE article. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
