Removal & Installation

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Wait 2 minutes for air bag system to discharge. Set parking brake and set shift and transfer case levers to furthest back positions.
  2. Remove rubber insert from bottom of front console bin and remove screws. Open rear console lid and remove screws at bottom of console. Pull out cup holder from rear of console and remove screws through opening. Lift console upward and rearward to remove from vehicle.
  3. Remove nut attaching center console bracket to floor. Disconnect Air Bag Control Module (ACM) connector. Remove 4 screws attaching ACM to floor. See Fig 1 . Remove ACM from vehicle.
  4. To install, reverse removal procedure. Torque ACM retaining screws to 70 INCH lbs. (7.9 N.m).
