Body Control Module: Removal

NOTE:
Before replacing a body control module (BCM), use the DRBIII(R) scan tool to retrieve the current settings for the BCM programmable features and the current REV/MILE (Tire Size). These settings must be programmed to the replacement BCM using the DRBIII(R) before returning the vehicle to service. New BCM's are shipped in default mode that prevents speedometer indication until a valid tire size is programmed. Refer to the appropriate diagnostic information.
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
- Remove the junction block module (JBM) from the instrument panel end bracket on the driver side of the vehicle. See JUNCTION BLOCK .
- Remove the screws that secure the BCM to the junction block (JB).
- Remove the BCM from the JB.
- If the vehicle is equipped with the optional remote keyless entry (RKE) system, remove the RKE module from the BCM. See POWER DOOR LOCKS & REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM article.
