Diagnostic Test
- CHECK IF THE DTC IS ACTIVE
- CHECK FOR TIPM CAN BUS DTCS
- With the scan tool, read TIPM DTCs.
Are there any TIPM CAN BUS DTCs present?
Yes
- Perform the appropriate diagnostic procedure. Refer to Diagnosis and Testing .
- Perform the CVT VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to Standard Procedure .
No
- Go To 3.
- With the scan tool, read TIPM DTCs.
- CHECK IF ENGINE DTCS ARE PRESENT
- With the scan tool, read engine DTCs.
Are there any engine DTCs present?
Yes
- Refer to the appropriate Diagnostic Code Index and perform the appropriate diagnostic procedure.
- Perform the CVT VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to Standard Procedure .
No
- Go To 4.
- With the scan tool, read engine DTCs.
- CHECK THE PCM
- Replace and program the PCM in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the CVT VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to Standard Procedure .
Does the DTC reset?
Yes
- Using the schematics as a guide, check the Transmission Control Module (TCM) pins, terminals, and connectors for corrosion, damage, or terminal push out. Pay particular attention to all power and ground circuits. If no problems are found, replace the TCM in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the CVT VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to Standard Procedure .
No
- Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time.
- CHECK THE WIRING AND CONNECTORS
- The conditions necessary to set this DTC are not present at this time.
- Using the schematics as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors specific to this circuit.
- Wiggle the wires while checking for shorted and open circuits.
Were there any problems found?
Yes
- Repair as necessary.
- Perform the CVT VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to Standard Procedure .
No
- Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time.
