Module, Powertrain Control: Removal: Diesel

NOTE:
USE THE SCAN TOOL TO REPROGRAM THE NEW POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) WITH THE VEHICLES ORIGINAL IDENTIFICATION NUMBER (VIN) AND THE VEHICLES ORIGINAL MILEAGE. IF THIS STEP IS NOT DONE, A DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) MAY BE SET.
To avoid possible voltage spike damage to PCM, ignition key must be off, and the negative battery cable must be disconnected before unplugging the PCM connectors.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the engine cover.
- Remove and position aside the glow plug module from PCM bracket.
- Remove and position aside the differential pressure sensor from PCM bracket.
- Remove wire harness (1 and 2) from PCM bracket.
- Unlock and disconnect the two PCM harness connectors (1) at the PCM (2).
- Remove lower bolt (1) securing the PCM bracket (2) to shock tower.
- Remove nut (1) and the PCM with bracket (2) from shock tower.
- Remove the nut (2), three bolts (3) and the PCM (4) from bracket (1).
