Section 139 (Rear Axle): Installation: Installation

CAUTION:
The weight of the vehicle must be supported by the springs before the control arms and track bar are tightened. Failure to follow these instructions will cause premature bushing failure.
- Raise the axle under the vehicle.
- Install lower control arms (1) onto the axle brackets (2). Loosely install mounting bolts and nuts.
- Install coil spring isolators and springs.
- Raise axle up until springs are seated.
- Install upper control arms (1) into axle brackets (2). Loosely install mounting bolts and nuts.
- Install shock absorbers (1) in axle brackets (2). Install shock bolts and nuts and tighten nuts to specifications.
- Install stabilizer bar (1) and clamps (2) on axle. Tighten clamp (2) bolts to torque specifications.
- Install vent hose to axle shaft tube.
- Install track bar (1) in axle bracket (2). Loosely install track bar (1) bolt.
- Install brake rotors, calipers and brake sensor (1) on axle (2).
- Install parking brake cables. Refer to CABLE, PARKING BRAKE, INSTALLATION .
- Install propeller shaft with pinion flange (1) and propeller shaft flange (2) reference marks aligned.NOTE:
Clean all propeller shaft bolts and apply Mopar Lock AND Seal Adhesive or equivalent to the threads before installation.
- Install propeller shaft bolts and tighten to specifications.
- Install the wheels and tires.
- Remove lifting device from axle and lower the vehicle.
- Tighten lower control arms, upper control arms and track bar bolts to torque specifications.
