Module, Compass: Installation: Installation

WARNING:

Disable the airbag system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to follow these instructions may result in accidental airbag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury.

  1. Position the Remote Compass Module (RCM) (2) onto the upper instrument panel cover.
  2. Reconnect the RCM electrical connector (1).
  3. Reinstall the RCM engaging the clips (3) that secure the module to the upper instrument panel cover.
  4. Reinstall the passenger airbag into the instrument panel. Refer to AIR BAG, PASSENGER, INSTALLATION .
  5. Reconnect the battery negative cable.
NOTE:

The Remote Compass Module (RCM) must be calibrated following installation. Refer to MODULE, COMPASS, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
