Sunroof And Sunshade Programming: Notes

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2017 Jeep Cherokee. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:

The sunroof motor and sunshade motor are thermally protected, if a motor overheats it will no longer operate until it cools. You may experience overheating during the programming procedures. Simply wait for the motor to cool if necessary.

New Replacement Motors - Sunroof and Power Sunshade -  The following procedure must be followed only when new replacement service motors are installed:

  1. Press and hold the sunroof glass CLOSE switch, the glass will cycle to the vent position then slightly reverse and stop, continue to press and hold the sunroof close switch.
  2. While still holding the glass CLOSE switch the power sunshade will then cycle to close position and then reverse and cycle to half open position.
  3. Once the sunroof glass and power sunshade have stopped motion release the sunroof glass CLOSE switch and press and hold it again within 5 seconds.
  4. The following sequence of sunroof operations will occur, do not release the switch until the operations are fully completed; the power sunshade will cycle to the full open position, sunroof glass will cycle to open position and back to closed position, power sunshade will cycle to closed position.
  5. Release the switch once all operation stops; initialization and calibration of motors is complete. If the switch is released prior to full completion of the operations described express operation "one-touch" function of the sunroof and power sunshade will be disabled. The re-calibration of existing motors procedure must be followed to enable express operation.

  6. The following sequence of sunroof operations will occur, do not release the switch until the operations are fully completed; the power sunshade will cycle to the full open position, sunroof glass will cycle to open position and back to closed position, power sunshade will cycle to closed position.
  7. Release the switch once all operation stops; re-calibration of motors is complete.
