Arm, Pitman: Installation

  1. Align and install the pitman arm (2) on steering gear shaft.
  2. Install the washer and nut (3) on the shaft and tighten the nut to 265 N.m (195 ft. lbs.).
  3. Install drag link ball stud to pitman arm, install nut and tighten to 105 N.m (77 ft. lbs.).

    NOTE:

    It may be necessary to pry the axle assembly over to install the track bar (1) at the frame rail.

  4. Position the track bar (1) at the axle bracket, install the nut and bolt (2) at the frame rail bracket and tighten to 169 N.m (125 ft. lbs.).
  5. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
  6. Fill power steering system to proper level. Refer to POWER STEERING FLUID LEVEL CHECKING .
  7. Check the toe setting. Refer to TOE POSITION .
