DECKLID/Hatch/Liftgate/Tailgate/Swing Gate: Hinge: Installation
NOTE:
It is not necessary to remove the liftgate to replace one or both hinges. The hinges can be replaced one at a time.
NOTE:
Use a suitable body sealer on the hinge to body mating surfaces prior to installation.
- Position the liftgate hinge (2) to the upper liftgate opening header (4) on the vehicle.
- Carefully pull the upper edge of the side panels downward from the header far enough to install and tighten the nut (3) to 63 N.m (46 ft. lbs.).
- Position the liftgate to the liftgate half of the hinge (1) on the vehicle.
- Install and tighten the two fasteners (1) that secure the hinge to the liftgate.
- Tighten the fasteners to 28 N.m (21 ft. lbs.).
- Install the support struts. Refer to PROP, GAS, INSTALLATION .
- Remove the support from the liftgate.
- Install the spoiler to the liftgate. Refer to SPOILER, INSTALLATION .
- Check the liftgate for proper alignment and operation. Refer to GAP AND FLUSH, SPECIFICATIONS .
- Check for water leaks at hinge to body screws.
- Install the rear header trim panel. Refer to PANEL, HEADER, REAR, INSTALLATION .
- Check liftgate and liftgate glass alignment and operation. Adjust as needed.
